On Wind Energy and Owens Corning
(OC)...
JJC:    Well let's just talk about what's in that windmill... You see those blades... the best blades - the ones that aren't breaking - are by OC... Obviously, OC also has housing issues (because they make pink insulation), so if you're going to decide to buy it for those blades, remember that there's some downside risk... They (the wind turbine blades) run very hot... and people don't recognize that... and one of the problems with the Indian company that's been building them, is that the blades crack. The OC composite is the strongest material we have. Again, OC is a big company... they do a fiberglass thing. The essense of this is... I want people to go in with their eyes open... We had the OC CEO on. He said that insulation is a big part of keeping energy costs down. He kind of poo-poo'd the idea that he was totally a hostage to housing. But that's the blade... There are a big bunch of orders coming in Texas for wind... he's absolutely right He's riding a wave... And California's the solar capital, and I've got a play for solar too... It's one that's been crushed because of insider selling. We actually had a little insider buying in First Solar (FSLR). Obama is solar, okay... There are absolutely some terrific orders coming from California for solar soon. Obviously, if McCain gets in, solar doesn't mean anything. Pure nuke... McCain, we've been saying is Shaw Group Inc. (SGR)... but, remmeber, the nuclear cycle is very, very attenuated. We got a call last night on Mad Money for Cameco Corp. (CCJ)... It's one I've been working on. I don't feel ready enough to be able to go out for it. I'm a "don't buy yet," but that's an obvious play... Well, frankly, McCain not the frontrunner right now. I've been spending more time on Obama than I have on McCain...

Now, the other thing is is that Boone Pickens is a big natural gas buyer... You know, natural gas, the futures... the shorts are really pressing the anti-natural gas bet... We had that nice break right at the close in the natural gas futures. The one that just had the recent piece of great news is Chesapeake (CHK). Now Aubrey McClennan (CEO) is on vacation this week. I hope to speak with him soon. Aubrey has been a buyer in every single dip. I'd like to know if he's buying right now. This group has been clocked as if natural gas is going back to $11... so I mean, at $11, I think that you would actually find that the stocks are absurd. They're already where the futures are saying. Now, I've got to tell you... Look, they're selling everything hot, whether it be fertilizer... whether it be steel... whether it natural gas... with the sense that the worldwide economies are in a recession. If they're not, these stocks are buys. Because, look, Boone is giving you an alternative energy play, not a pure carbon play...

A Charitable Trust stock. - An asterisk next to a stock symbol indicates that Jim mentioned it is a stock that he manages within
his charitable trust portfolio.  You can see the complete portfolio
of stocks here >>

Thumbs up - indicates he would buy the stock or, at the very least, not sell the stock.  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Thumbs down - indicates he has said not to buy or to sell the stock, based on his comments  We do our best to interpret Jim's opinion on stocks, as we think it is indicated by his comments during the show.  Please read his comments to decide for yourself.

Back up the truck - indicated by Jim, when he says the stock is so good, that he would do a 'mon-back' on the stock... In other words, this is the sound someone would say to a truck driver, "Come on back... " as he is "backing up the truck" to load up on his cargo.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.

Stumped. - Of the 2,000+ stocks that Jim Cramer has in his head, for which he has an informed opinion, he sometimes comes across a caller with a stock he does not know well enough to opine on...  He then indicates he is stumped and will have to come back to it, after he does some homework of his own on the stock.  This usually occurs during the Lightning Round, when Jim does not know in advance who is calling, or what their stock question is about.

Definitions of key phrases used by Jim, known as "Cramerisms":

Definition:   'Pull the trigger' is Jim's phrase for making the decision at that point to trade - either to 'buy' or to 'sell' (although he usually uses the phrase for buying), as if to say you should feel comfortable enough to make the final decision without looking back...

Definition:   'Ring the Register' is Jim's phrase for selling a stock, and making it a final sale, that you should not look back on.  Put it behind you.

Definition:  'Let It Come In' indicates how you may wait for it to pull back, or have the stock price come down briefly, as your chance (after letting it come in) to buy the rest of your position (i.e., total number of shares you own in that stock).

Definition:  'backing it up' or 'doing a 'mon-back' is Jim's phrase for the metaphor of backing up a truck to load up on a stock by buying it.  'Mon-back is short for the imaginary worker saying, 'Come on back...' as the truck is backing up to receive its load... Notice that we use the little truck icon to indicate where Jim has mentioned this.  Translation for buying stocks:  This recommendation by Jim indicates that, after you do your own homework on the stock, you should feel comfortable loading up on it, as it is in a good position to be bought at this point.
