In this segment, Jim
takes 2-4 callers
and asks them to

largest positions in
their portfolio.
He then comments on
whether or not they
are properly
diversified...

Jim:

I want to know if I
am diversified...
Stocks are:
Allos Therapeutics, Inc.
(ALTH), Broadwind Energy, Inc. (BWEN), First Niagara Financial Group
Inc. (FNFG), RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD)
and Qwest (Q)?...
Jim:
Wow... this is
tough. This is the
first time we've had
this on "Am I
Diversified?"... Dan
gave you fair
warning... he said
they were all specs.
So let's analyze and
know that specs are
actually one class
of stock. So, if you
had five stocks and
your fifth was a
speculation, that's
fine. He's divided
his portfolio into,
I believe, mostly
non-speculative, and
these these specs,
and wants to be
diversified... So
let's see...
Allos Therapeutic...
He's got a
speculative
biotech... Quest is
a speculative telco
company... RFMD is a
speculative
semiconductor
company. Broadwind
is a speculative
wind play, and First
Niagara is a
non-speculative
bank. It's actually
a very safe bank,
FNFG...
Let's see what we've
got here...
A bank, a telco, a
tech, a wind play...
alternative
energy... and a
pharma... In his
weird, bizarre and
incredible way, only
in a person from
Nevada who is an
inveterate gambler,
Dan has made it look
easy, and I think
he's okay.

Caller:
I want to know if I
am diversified...
Stocks are:
General Electric (GE), Digital Globe (DGI),
SolarWinds, Inc.
(SWI), Ford (F),
and ?...
Jim:
Oh boy... Alright...
Man, these are tough
tonight. I've got to
tell you...
Remember, Solar
Winds... I've got to
be sure that I
describe this
company right,
because Solar Winds
sounds like the
absolute ultimate...
absolute ultimate
alternative energy
stock. Of course,
it's a network
management software
company.
So, we have a tech
company, we have a
gold company, we
have... well, this
is Digital Globe.
Remember, this was
that IPO that we
said was going to be
like
GeoEye, Inc. (GEOY)...
It's back to $18...
high-resolution
Earth imaging...
interesting
business... Ford is
a speculative auto
company... remember,
I like the preferred
better... and GE,
the parent company
of this network...
So let's see... Auto
company, global
image, management
consulting, gold and
industrial...
It works for me but,
again, I am going to
come back and say,
listen... This is
the second fellow...
Dan and now Ed...
These guys are not
doing what I want.
They are really
rolling the dice,
and they can roll
their dice with
10%... maybe even
20%... of their
portfolio. But I am
looking for some
solid names here. I
don't have them yet.
Let's keep trying.
Let's see what we
can come up with
here.

Stocks are:
Abbott Laboratories (ABT*), ConAgra (CAG), Raytheon Co. (RTN), Procter & Gamble (PG),
and Flextronics International
Ltd. (FLEX)?...
Jim:
Yeah, your dog
(i.e., FLEX) has got
the fleas there...
Okay, let's look at
this, because this
is more
traditional... It's
kind of what I
wanted to see... I'm
not denigrating the
speculative
portfolios; I am
just afraid that
people will take my
"okay" of
diversification,
into a license to
buy and
all-speculative
portfolio... and
then I would have
done wrong, and my
critics would have
been right...
Okay... ConAgra, a
good food situation
with a good
dividend. That Gary
Ricky, is always
invited on the
show... the CEO...
make a note...
Procter & Gamble, a
very disappointing
quarter, but you
know what? Longer
term, we're going to
like that company.
Raytheon, a great
defense company...
Flextronics is an
assembler of
technology. It has
been a total
bow-wow... Abbott
Labs, one of the
best drug stocks in
the game. I own it
for
ActionAlertsPlus.com, my
charitable trust.
It's looking real
good.
A drug, a food, a
soft goods
company... you know,
cosmetically...
soap... a defense
and tech. That works
for me. I think he's
playing a good game.
I salute all our
players, but only
Randy (the last
caller) really
delivered in the
traditional sense,
of "Am I
Diversified?"...
