Sinovac Biotech Ltd. (SVA)

Q:         Hi Jim,
I wanted to know your thoughts on Sinovac Biotech, the Chinese biotech company. With the flu season upon us I continue to see SVA getting millions of orders every few weeks for the swine flu virus, yet the stock doesn’t seem to move. Is this stock too speculative, or do reports of low supplies on swine flu vaccines makes this a buy?
Patrick

Jim:      Patrick, I talk about this stock with Bryan Ashenberg who writes “The Breakout Stocks” newsletter for
TheStreet.com… he has got a red hot hand… both Bryan and I think that it is a little too speculative… however, I do not want to miss this trend.. I am not going to send you to Biocrest… I will send you to CVS Caremark Corp. (CVS)… I will send you to Walgreen Co. (WAG).. and I will sent you to Becton Dickinson & Co. (BDX)… those are all better plays on swine flue where if it does not pan out… you will still have some money left.

General market question...

Q:         Jim,
I have sent you emails before ranting about a multitude of market/stock performance issues and concerns. However, I do feel you are honestly trying to “change the game” and I applaud you for that.
Dick in Ohio

Jim:      Dick, I am… that does not mean that I am not going to make a lot of mistakes, I mean sometimes people will criticize me for the ones that I actually get right… that does bother me… but I am not wrangled… you have a hit ration in this basis… if you were right all the time… you would simply be lying.

China Unicom Hong Kong Ltd (CHU*)

Q:         Hey Cramer!
Why are these financial writers and pundits so negative all the time? I own China Unicom and have been anticipating the release of
the iPhone in China. It finally came out and all I read anywhere is how “lackluster” the sales have been, yet when I see pictures out of China the lines are long and stores are crowded. What gives with these guys? Can’t they ever find good in anything?
Chuck in Erie, PA

Jim:      Chuck... particularly, completely is exactly like how I am feeling… I have been buying China Unicom for
ActionAlertsPlus.com, my charitable trust and sent out a very similar email saying people are really, really making a mole hill out of a mountain here… Apple sales are going to be gigantic in China… I continue to like both CHU andApple (AAPL).

General market question...

Q:         Dear Cramer,
Since the beginning of August I have noticed that
the Dow Jones Industrial Average and some stocks have switched from seeing support at the 20-day moving average to support at the 50-day moving average. Is this a bearish sign for the economy? From a fundamental standpoint, why does the price of a stock even care if it touches these averages? Are the big money managers driving these rebounds off the averages?
Bill in Irvine, CA

Jim:      Bill, big money managers tend to be technicians which is why we do "Off The Charts"… to demonstrate what they are doing… I think that you should completely discount this and focus on the fundamentals of the companies… not the 20, 50, or 200 day moving average… I have charts hand delivered to my house every Saturday morning… I pay attention to them… but I make my decisions based on the homework and the fundamentals.. .and so should you.
